EARLY LIFE AND FAMILY BACKGROUND Anne Frank was born on June 12, 1929, in Frankfurt, Germany, into a Jewish family during a time of growing political instability. She was the second daughter of Otto and Edith Frank, with an older sister named Margot. As Nazi power increased and Jewish families faced growing danger, the Frank family decided to leave Germany. In 1933, they moved to Amsterdam in the Netherlands in search of safety and a more stable life.
