I don’t belong here, I said to myself

I swallowed. They grinned.

I shifted my weight. They laughed.

I opened my mouth to speak. He interrupted.

I coughed. She shushed.

ā€œThanks for coming!" he said warmly. "See you next time?ā€

I blinked, surprised.

ā€œYeah, I’d like that.ā€

    There’s something quietly hopeful in the ending. Despite all the discomfort and doubt, the speaker still says yes to coming back. That small step feels bigger than it looks, like choosing to try again even when it’s hard.
